A 34 year-old man, Dickton Kachembele and a woman yet to be identified have died after the vehicle they were traveling in hit a stationery motor vehicle in Lumbadzi.
Spokesperson for Lumbadzi Police station Sergeant Felix Kwinyani said the incident occurred last night, near Valley Chicks junction, along the Lilongwe-Kasungu M1 road.
Kachembele (now deceased) was driving a Hino Light lorry motor vehicle, registration number BLK 642, from the direction of Lumbadzi trading center heading towards Kanengo with one unknown female passenger on board.
Upon reaching the said place, he hit a stationery Nissan UD Truck motor vehicle, registration number RU 6326/PE 1186, driven by Andrew Mhango which was in near side lane of the road due to breakdown.
Following the impact, the two (in Hino Light lorry) sustained multiple fractures and were rushed by Police to Kamuzu Central Hospital where death was pronounced upon arrival.
Kachembele hailed from Kapichila village Traditional authority Dzoole in Dowa.
Police in Lumbadzi are therefore advising road users to adhere to all road traffic rules and regulations to avoid occurrences of preventable road accidents.
