High Court judge Allan Muhommed in Blantyre has removed the mayor’s injuction obtained by mayors from different councils against the mayoral election.

According to Chancy Gondwe, The lawyer representing the defendants, Chancy Gongwe the defendants did not disclose in their filed papers the known cause of the action, hence the removal of the injuction.

Last week, the mayors gave permission to apply for a review of the defendant’s decision, sanctioning the election of local government authorities

The court documents show that the defendants wanted the court to interpret.

This was to allow for harmonised presidential, parliamentary, and local government elections in 2025 with the constitution.
