Human rights activist Bon Kalindo and Rumphi East Parliamentarian Kamlepo Kalua are this afternoon expected to appear before court in Lilongwe to answer cybercrime-related charges.
National Police Spokesperson Peter Kalaya and Kalindo’s lawyer Khwima Mchizi have confirmed.
Mchizi said he will file for Kalindo’s bail once he takes plea at the court.
Kalindo and Kalua, who spent the weekend in the cooler after being arrested on Thursday and Friday respectively on similar charges, will be answering the charges separately.
The two were arrested following publication and circulation of voice notes which the police argue “contain serious criminal elements as seen through the lens of the electronic transactions and cyber security Act(2016).”
