DPP’s Christopher Jana Takes Over as Zomba City Mayor

Zomba City Council has elected Christopher Jana from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) as the new mayor.
Jana, who represents Mpila ward, takes over from United Democratic Front (UDF) Chinamwali ward councillor Davie Maunde.
Councillor Anthony Gonani has been appointed as the deputy mayor, replacing Councillor Muneera Bakali.
The two outgoing mayors and the former deputy were not present during the election.
This change in leadership follows the uplifting of an injunction against the election.
