A Telekom Networks Malawi (TNM) assistant accountant is in police custody in Nsanje for squandering a whooping K13 million company money on betting.
Nsanje Police publicist Agness Zalakoma, has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press and identified the suspect as Tadala Starch 31.
According to Zalakoma, the arrest of Starch followed an investigation that took place on June 18 by the company’s auditors, which revealed that K13 million was missing.
After pressing the suspect with questions at the Nsanje police on June 24 about the missing money, the officer revealed that she used the money for betting.
Starch has been charged with theft at work and is expected to appear in court soon.
