First Grade Magistrate court in Neno has convicted and sentenced a 26-year-old man to 3 years imprisonment for allegedly breaking into and stealing in girl’s hostel at Chiwale Secondary School.

The convict has been identified as Gift Chinkwita who hails from Donda village Traditional Authority Chekucheku in the district.

Neno police spokesperson Constable Rebecca Msoliza told the court, Chimkwita committed the offence on Sunday 23 June 2024, when he went the girl’s hostel and stole bags and clothes for them.

A certain girl saw the convict and screamed until the villagers helped to arrest him.

When he appeared at the court, the Chimkwita did not waste time in the court but to admit his sin but asked the court to sympathize with him because his family depends on him.

But in delivering his verdict, First Grade Magistrate Margret Khobidi agreed with the state who said that the man is a danger to the public and should receive a strict punishment so that others can learn from it.

Then,Khobid ordered him to spend his three years in jail.
