The Malawi Posts Corporation (MPC) has announced the suspension its postbus service operations starting on June 30 this year due to persistent losses.

This has been confirmed in a notice made available to this publication.

MPC said they have been experiencing challenges in delivering satisfactory services to their customers due to the old age of their fleet, which requires frequent maintenance, leading to rising operational costs in the process.

The company says since its inception in 2019, the buses have transported over 1.3 million passengers between Blantyre, Lilongwe, Mzuzu, and Karonga, among others.

Many employees are at risk of losing their jobs.
