Zambian police have arrested A 49-year-old fellow Police Officer, Assistant Superintendent Daniel Kangelesa, over attempted rape.

The officer and is set to stand trial in the Nakonde Magistrate Court.

Mr Kangelesa allegedly attempted to rape an 18-year-old girl from Nakonde on June 8, 2024.

He denied the allegations when he appeared before Nakonde Magistrate Cynthia Musaba on June 12, 2024.

Trial is scheduled to commence today, and the prosecution is expected to present its case against the police officer
