The funeral ceremony of late Reverend Dr Dr. Kilion Gibson Jacob Mgawi is currently underway at Nkhoma CCAP ground in the area of Senior Chief Mazengera in Lilongwe.
Reverend Mgawi succumbed to Kidney failure on Sunday at Kamuzu Central Hospital in the capital Lilongwe.
President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera is attending the funeral ceremony.
Mgawi who died at the age of 93, served in various positions including Nkhoma Synod’s first local General Secretary, Board Chairperson of Malawi Council for the Handicapped (MACOHA), and Malawi Electoral Commissioner among others.
The burial ceremony has brought together prominent dignitaries from the government, cabinet ministers, and representative from civil society organisations, religious and traditional leaders.
