A South African woman, Pamela Ncumisa Selani (47), has been handed three life terms and an additional five years for killing her two lovers and her son.
Selani was convicted in the Pretoria High Court for murdering Micheal Changisa and Gift, both from Malawi, and her son Avile Jonjwana.
She also received an extra five years for defeating the administration of justice.
In 2016, after discovering Changisa had infected her with HIV, Selani conspired with her other boyfriend, Gift, to kill Changisa.
Gift hid in Selani’s bathroom and, once Changisa was asleep, hit him with a hammer, killing him.
A year later, Selani and her 17-year-old son poisoned and drowned Gift because he was abusive.
When her son Avile tried to extort her, Selani killed him with a hammer and buried him on top of the other victims.
The murders were uncovered when her younger son confessed to a traditional healer.
Despite pleading not guilty, Selani was convicted, showing no remorse, and Judge Papi Masopa emphasized the severity of her crimes while handing down the sentence.
