The Director of Trade in Goods in the Ministry of trade Charity Musonzo says Malawi did not meet the export of 50 000 tons of pigeon peas agreement with India

Speaking in an interview, Musonzo said, in 2021 Malawian Government signed a 5-year agreement to export 50 000 tons of pigeon peas annually to India but unfortunately Malawi did not meet the export threshold for the past three years.

Musonzo further urged Malawians to grow more pigeon peas for export, noting that the Indian government has increased the export threshold above fifty thousand metric tons.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed in June 2021, with the Nandolo Farmers Association, a joint partner, in attendance.
