Nurses and physician assistants have said they will not accept the adjustments of top allowances that government has come up with, as they are different from what they had agreed upon with government.

This follows a recent statement released by the secretary for health dated June 24 indicating adjustments which includes a highest allowance of 526,500 kwacha per month and the lowest grade receiving 50 thousand kwacha.

Commenting on the development, President of the Physicians Union of Malawi Solomon Chomba said they are not satisfied with the said allowances as they are not matching with what they had agreed upon and that they have written government to look into this issue.

He added that the physicians and nurses have not yet received an official communication from government on the same.
