Police at Jenda in Mzimba District have arrested four people Handrosi Mkhalipi 34, Joel Tchongwe 28, Patrick Tembo 36 and Joseph Ngoma 39 on suspicion that they committed various crimes around Jenda.
Spokesperson for Jenda police Sub Inspector Macfarlen Mseteka has confirmed the arrest.
According to Mseteka, the first suspect Handrosi Mkhalipi has been arrested on suspicion that he killed his uncle Happy Nyirenda (now deceased) on June 26, 2024 by hacking him in the head with an axe after a quarrel at a drinking place.
Mseteka has said, “it is reported that upon reaching home the fight resurfaced and thus when the suspect took an axe, hacked his uncle three times in the head and he died on the spot. The suspect fled to Zambia but was netted after he sneaked back into the village.
In the other hand, Mseteka has disclosed that second and third suspects Joel Tchongwe and Patrick Tembo were caught in an act attempting to break into Mulawe shop at Jenda, while Joseph Ngoma has been arrested after he was found in possession of San LG motorcycle, red in colour, suspected to have been stolen which he was also offering for sale around Jenda trading centre.
Meanwhile all the four suspects will appear before court upon completion of paper work to answer their charges.
