A 17-year-old secondary school student, Tinasha Mtawali, has committed suicide by shooting himself in the head over what is suspected to be, love affair disagreements, on 30 June 2024 at Chitipi Area in the Capital City.
Lilongwe Police Station Public Relations Officer Inspector Hastings Chigalu said on the said date at around 18:00 hours, Mtawali (deceased), left home for unknown destination where he later called his girlfriend on the telephone, telling her that she will never see him again.
In the course of their conversation, the girlfriend heard sound of a gun shooting, and Mtawali stopped responding on his cellphone.
This is when the girlfriend made every effort to relay the same to the deceased’ relations.
This development prompted the deceased’ father to check for his pistol at home, and realized that it was missing.
Efforts by police and family members to search for the deceased’ traces during the night proved futile, until Monday morning, at around 06:00 hours when Mtawali was found lying dead, with the pistol held in his right hand, and his cellphone beside him.
Postmortem done at Goodwill Funeral Services, by medical practitioner from Kamuzu Central Hospital, revealed that death was due to head injuries resulting from bullet shot.
Tinasha Mtawali, hailed from Likuzi Village, Traditional Authority Senzani in Ntcheu District.
