A medical officer at Nsanje District Hospital identified as Ian Kalonga, 42, has died after a motorcycle he was riding hit a tree.
Agnes Zalakoma who speaks for the police in the district says the incident happened last night at about 21:45 hours.
According to Zalakoma, Kalonga was riding from the direction of Nsanje FDH Bank heading to Nthukuso Village along the earth road alone.
“Upon arrival near Agriculture houses, he lost control and swerved to the extreme nearside where he hit a tree.
“Following the impact, he sustained severe head injury and he was pronounced dead upon arrival at Nsanje District Hospital,” Zalakoma says.
Ian Kalonga came from Nasanya village in the area of Traditional Authority Nchiramwera in Thyolo District.
