Blantyre Prison (Chichiri) witnessed a transformative event on July 3, 2024, as nineteen inmates were awarded Certificates in Theology at St. Columba CCAP Congregation. Administered by the Malawi Extension Evangelism Training (MEET) program, the certificates symbolize the inmates’ commitment to theological education and personal growth within the prison walls.

The ceremony was graced by top officials, including Prison Facilitators and Blantyre Prison Representative Sergeant Steve Chikolosa, who spoke on behalf of the Commissioner General for Prisons, Mr. Masauko Ng’ombeyagwada Wiscot. Sergeant Chikolosa encouraged the graduates to continue their theological journey, aligning with the Malawi Prison Service’s vision of reformation, rehabilitation, and reintegration programs.

Inmate Learners Representative, Shoes Kachotsa shared his inspiring transformation story, highlighting the profound impact of MEET on his life. Rev. Phale, the program coordinator, applauded the graduates’ dedication and promised to support prison facilities with advanced theology classes. Rev. Moyo, representing DGS, emphasized their commitment to the spiritual and personal growth of the inmates, reinforcing their mission to provide holistic support.

The MEET program continues to make a significant difference in the lives of many, empowering inmates through education and spiritual development.
