Police in Rumphi have arrested MacDonald Munthali, 28 on suspicion that he brutally murdered Yolamu Phiri, former security guard at St Thomas Anglican Church in the district.
Phiri’s body was found on September, 23, 2023 lying in a pool of blood in the church by church members who went for preparations of a Service.
During the investigations police have managed to recover a speaker,a keyboard and a mixer which were stolen from the church of which the suspect was offering for sale in Mzuzu.
According to Rumphi Police Station spokesperson Sub-Inspector Noel Kamchenga, Munthali will soon appear before court to answer charges of Murder, Bulgraly and Theft.
He hails from Zamamba village in the area of Traditional Authority Kameme in Chitipa District.
