The Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services has announced the resumption of passport printing at its Blantyre office from tomorrow, Wednesday.

Immigration Assistant Superintendent Wellington Chiponde has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to this publication.

Chiponde said individuals seeking passport services can now access them at the Immigration Headquarters Offices in Blantyre.

“The Department profoundly appreciates the patience and understanding of passport applicants during the entire period when passport services were temporarily suspended in Blantyre,” reads part of the statement.

Passport issuance was suspended in Blantyre earlier this year after hackers’ invaded Immigration system.

The system was recovered in March and printing of passport was only happening in Lilongwe.
