Police in Lilongwe are looking for thieves who destroyed an Escom electricity transformer worth K6.7 million and stole other equipment including wires on the night of July 6.
Lilongwe police deputy spokesperson Khumbo Sanyiwa said the transformer supplies electricity to the St Paul’s Training Center located at the Mlale Catholic Mission.
The thieves said that they had to lower the electricity machine that produces 100 KVA from the top where it was.
Sanyiwa said that work is currently underway to find those who have done this.
