United Transformation Movement (UTM) supporters have this morning shunned the opening ceremony of this year’s Southern African Confederation of Agriculture Unions (SACAU) currently underway at Bingu International Conversation Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.
The function is being presided over by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.
This is the first function since the death of UTM President Dr. Saulos Chilima who was also serving as the country’s vice President.
According to information at hand, the invitation was sent to UTM director of women for all party supporters to attend the function.
But UTM supporters vehemently rejected the invitation.
It is said that UTM supporters are not willing to continue with its marriage with the Malawi Congress Party (MCP).
Meanwhile, UTM is scheduled to hold the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting this coming Friday in Lilongwe.
