One person has died and several others have been injured in a road accident that occurred in the Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve on the Nkhotakota-Kasungu road. The vehicle involved in the accident, which belongs to the cement company Shayona, was transporting cement and passengers.
Jonathan Chitimbe, who witnessed the accident, said that the vehicle failed to stop due to brake failure.
“Unfortunately, one person died in the accident, while others who were injured have been taken to Kasungu Hospital and Nkhotakota respectively,” Chitimbe said.
Nkhotakota Police Public Relations Officer Paul Malimwe confirmed the accident and stated that it occurred within the boundaries of Ntchisi District.
However, Nkhotakota District Hospital spokesperson Garry Chilinga said they need time to investigate before making any statements.
