Police at Lingadzi in Lilongwe have arrested a 39 year-old woman on the suspicion that she was openly selling cannabis at Kauma market.

Spokesperson for Lingadzi police Cassim Manda, has confirmed the arrest and identified the suspect as Modesta Martin.

According to Manda, some people tipped police officers that Modesta was elling marijuana openly in the market.

Manda said that after conducting a search, Modesta was e found with 12 bags of marijuana and two 20-liter cans of tobacco seeds.

Currently, the cannabis has been taken to Chitedze agricultural research center in Lilongwe for testing and she will soon appear in court to answer charges.

Modesta Martin hails from Kanjobvu village, Traditional Authority Kachindamoto in Dedza district.
