The police in Phalombe have arrested eleven individuals following an altercation during a raid on a suspected human tissue dealer. According to South East Police Region spokesperson Edward Kabango, the arrests occurred on Sunday at the residence of a witch doctor in Kokoro Village.
Kabango explained that the police were at the witch doctor’s house to apprehend him and another business person accused of trafficking in human tissue. However, the situation escalated when the suspects began to obstruct the officers’ efforts.
“The suspects began pelting stones at the police while they were searching the house,” Kabango said. “Despite the search, no human tissues were found.”
Despite the lack of evidence for the human tissue allegations, Kabango confirmed that the eleven suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
