Insurance Institute of Malawi (IIM) President Reuben Kamanga Kawelele has said that the annual sports day provides an opportunity for Insurance players in the country to mingle in a free environment.
Kawelele said this on Saturday during this year’s IIM Annual Sports Day held at Blantyre Sports Club for the second time in a role.
“This is the day where Insurance players come together as family interact, mingle and know each other while doing exercises by taking part in various sports discipline such as Weight lifting, football, netball, Pool, Basketball, Genda-ball and others.
“Everyone in the insurance is here-the blockers are here, our spouses are here. We are coming together just to socialize together in a free environment. As you know, we work in a busy environment and this is the only place where we relax,” said Kawelele.
He also said that the event provides an opportunity for insurance players to celebrate achievements made in the year.
Kawelele then urged Insurance players to patronize each sports discipline.
“This is your day and be free to participate in each sports activity,” said Kawelele.
On his part the organizing Chairperson Thomas Kholowa could not hide his excitement on how the event was progressing.
“So far so good and am really impressed with how the day is progressing,” said Kholowa.
The event reached a climax with a live performances from Zeze Kingstone who dished out various songs such as ‘Sangala’, ‘Chakwaza’ by Jetu and others.
Winners in various sports discipline went away with a trophy and prize money.
