A Zambian Security Guard at Connec Quarry Company in Lusaka West has allegedly shot and wounded an employee who had gone to demand his salary.
The suspect, has been identfied as Lwankole Mukonchi, 32, from Misisi Compound fired at 26-year-old Elvis Mweemba, a resident of Lusaka’s ZESCO Kalundu area, causing a deep gunshot wound to Mweemba’s right lower limb.
The incident occurred yesterday around 11:30 hours at the Connec Quarry company premises.
Deputy Police Spokesperson Danny Mwale reported that the victim confronted the guard upon entering the premises, leading to a quarrel that escalated into violence.
Police were alerted and promptly arrived at the scene, finding Mweemba in a pool of blood.
He was rushed to Kanyama Level One Hospital for medical attention, while the guard remained in custody.
