Speaker of Parliament Catherine Gotani Hara Says she has all the qualities to enable her perform the duties of Malawi Congress Party first vice-president.
She said this in an interview after her meeting with some party delegates at Nyachenda Motel in Mzuzu.
She stressed that having served as party vice-general secretary, Cabinet minister and Speaker, she is fit for that position.
“I am an experienced politician, apart from several public positions I served, I head one arm of government which is enough experience in ensuring women representation in politics. Nothing for us without us,” said Hara.
Others vying for the same post are; Minister of Homeland Security Ken Zikhale Ng’oma, former first deputy speaker of Parliament Esther Mcheka Chilenje and Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba.
The party is scheduled to hold an elective convention on August 8-10, 2024 at Bingu National Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.
