Deputy Minister of Education Nancy Chaola Mdooko today this morning, visited Ntcheu Secondary School, Nachitheme Secondary School and Khola Community Day Secondary School (CDSS) in Ntcheu to monitor the ongoing 2024 Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examination.
Speaking to the press after monitoring, the Deputy Minister said she was impressed with how the exams are running.
She however acknowledged the national wide technical challenge experienced yesterday where maps for learners to use in answering question 1 of Geography Paper 1 were missing, forcing the candidates to skip the question.
She said the Ministry together with the Malawi National Examination Board will sort out the issue.
“We have taken note of this challenge as a ministry, we will sit down, discuss and map the way forward,” she said.
The Deputy Minister also acknowledged increase in this year’s candidature by 19% compared to that of last year.
The 2024 MSCE examination started on 2nd July and will finish on 26th July. About 184,978 students are sitting for the exam, out of which 97, 787 are males and 88,191 are female
