The catholic dioceses of Karonga and Mzuzu have jointly organized a memorial mass in honor of former Vice President Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima and 8 others at St Peters Cathedral in the city.
The memorial mass will be held on August 31, 2024 and will be graced by Bishop Dr. Mathews Mtumbuka of Karonga Dioceses and Bishop John Ryan of Mzuzu.
Reverend Father Raymond Mwale has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceofmalawi publication.
According to Father Mwale, the mass has been organised to honor the spirits of the 9 people who perished in the plane crash on June 10, 2024.
Chilima’s death continues to attract the attention of many Malawians and some led by United Transformation Movement (UTM) party are holding candle light memorials across the country.
The government of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has since instituted an investigation on the deaths.
