The Department of Immigration conducted three separate operations between July 12th and 15th, 2024, resulting in the apprehension of 62 suspected illegal immigrants in Lusaka, Chipata, and Katete.
Immigration Public Relations Officer, Namati Nshinka, said 31 individuals were nabbed on July 15th during an operation that covered Lusaka’s Middle West, Garden House, Mumbwa Road, and Kanyama.
The apprehended individuals included 20 Burundians, 8 Congolese, 2 Egyptians, and a Tanzanian.
17 Malawians were apprehended on July 14th in Chipata’s East Rise during a joint operation with other Security Wings.
On the same day, 14 more Malawians were caught for illegal entry by the Katete Immigration Office.
Overall, the combined efforts in Lusaka, Chipata, and Katete led to the apprehension of 114 individuals for various immigration offenses during this period.
