Police in Chikwawa have arrested four outgoing form four students at Chikwawa Secondary School for allegedly assaulting five form one students.

Chikwawa Police Station deputy spokesperson, Chancy Mfune has identified them as Joseph Banda (20) Christopher Falakeza (18) while the other two have not been revealed because they are minors.

Mfune said on July 18, 2024 the victims were at the school dining hall taking breakfast and while there, the suspects approached them and started mocking them.

Mfune said the suspects later assaulted the victims using thorny sticks and as a result, the victims sustained bruises.

Mfune said the boarding master together with some students managed to calm the situation and later reported the matter to Chikwawa Police Station where the victims were referred to Chikwawa District Hospital and the suspects arrested.

He said the suspects are still in police custody and are expected to appear before court soon to answer the charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contrary to Section 254 of the Penal Code.
