A police officer in Chikwawa District has arrested Chikondi Ndalama, aged 32, on suspicion of killing his 83-year-old grandmother, Agness Ndalema.

The Deputy Police Spokesperson for Chikwawa, Chancy Mfune, stated that reports indicate that Grandma Agness, who had vision problems, was left alone while the person she lived with went to a village funeral.

However, upon returning from the funeral, the person found Grandma Agness lying on the floor with a tree branch nearby and blood on the ground.

This led the villagers to question what had happened, and they discovered that Chikondi (the suspect) was seen leaving Grandma’s house carrying a sack of flour.

This discovery prompted the villagers to go to his house, where they found him using the flour they claimed belonged to Grandma. The villagers apprehended him and took him to the police for a thorough investigation of the matter.

In the end, Grandma Agness’s body was taken to a major hospital in the district, where further examination revealed that she had died from severe head injuries.

Chikondi Ndalama hails from Bereu Village under the Maseya Traditional Authority, and he is due to appear in court soon.
