Gavin Dasaur, 29, confronted another driver with a handgun in a road rage incident in Indianapolis on July 16.
In a video captured by a witness, Dasaur is seen approaching a white Chevy pickup truck and attempting to punch the driver while holding the gun.
The driver of the Chevy pickup truck tries to deflect Dasaur’s punch as Dasaur continues to berate him, shifting the weapon to his left hand.
As the confrontation escalates, the Chevy driver draws their own gun and fires multiple shots at Dasaur, who collapses to the ground.
The video, which lasts about seven seconds, ends with the witness taking cover in their own car.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department reported that the shooting occurred around 8:15 p.m. at the intersection of South Emerson Avenue and Thompson Road.
According to witnesses, the altercation began as a road rage incident between Dasaur, driving a black Honda, and the driver of the pickup truck.
While the driver of the pickup truck was initially detained, they were later released after investigators determined that the shooting was likely an act of self-defense.
