NICO Life are the champions of this year’s NICO Group Family Day Gendaball tournament held at Blantyre Sports Club on Saturday.

All NICO group companies that include NBS Bank played Gendaball where Nico Life became champions with 4,600 points.


Speaking in an interview with the press NICO Life Gendaball team player Lawrence Kaulembe said he is so excited to be part of the winning team.

“As champions we are so excited and we feel great about it considering the fact that this is new game in Malawi,” said Kaulembe.

On his National Gendaball Association (NAGA) Publicity and Marketing Manager Japheth Thole hailed NICO Group for incorporating in Gendaball during its Family Day event.

“As National Gendaball Association we are very excited with what has happened today at Blantyre Sports Club. We were there last week where we partnered with the Institute of Insurance Companies of Malawi and today we were there with the NICO Group where NICO brought together all its eight companies to participate in family sports day and Gendaball was one of the sports discipline that were played there.

“Looking at what happened today we can always say Gendaball is growing day by day. Many people are coming in to learn on how gendaball is played,” said Thole.

He then asked other companies in the country to emulate  NICO’s gesture to partner with Gendaball association.

In children’s games, 8 year old Naomi Mpingiza also led Nico Life to championship with 2,500 points.

Nico Pensions emerged as runners up after amassing 550 points thanks to a shot by another 8 year-old Jerrisa Kawaye.
