This afternoon, audio engineer Peter Mbedza is expected to appear before the court in Lilongwe after being arrested earlier this week in Blantyre.
The arrest follows suspicions of Mbedza’s involvement in producing Bakili Muluzi TV content that has circulated widely on social media platforms.
While specifics of the arrest remain undisclosed, authorities reportedly seized studio equipment during the apprehension.
Mbedza, a prominent figure in Blantyre’s music scene, faces charges related to the publication of news likely to cause fear and public alarm, as well as cyber spamming, as per Section 91 of the Electronic Transactions and Cyber Security Act of 2016.
