A 23 year-old Zambian woman of Makoleka village in Chief Mishoro’s area of Kasenengwa District has died after being axed by her husband.
Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Roberson Mweemba has identfied the deceased as Nancy Mwanza who met her fate on Monday around 16hrs following a marital dispute.
Mr Mweemba said the couple is alleged to have had marital disputes as the deceased was accused of having an affair with another man.
He said an axe is alleged to have been used in the act and the deceased sustained a deep cut on the right side of the neck as well as a cut on the right arm.
Mr Mweemba who identified the suspect as Jairos Shawa aged 30 said police visited the scene and found the deceased’s body lying on the doorway to the bedroom with a blood stained axe beside her.
The police commanding officer said the body was deposited at Chipata Central Hospital awaiting postmortem and burial while a search for the suspect has since been launched.
