Man Convicted For Selling Water Claiming To Be Cooking Oil

First grade magistrate court sitting in Mponela Dowa district has today ordered 28-year-old Nelson Phiri to be in prison for one and a half years for the crime of selling Mathias Ngulube’s water by falsely claiming it was cooking oil.
Deputy Inspector Wonderful Chipo told the court that Phiri sold Ngulube a twenty (20) liter water drum at a price of K58,000.
In the court they asked to reduce the sentence.
In his ruling First Grade Magistrate Talakwanji M’ndala slapped 18 months jail term and he said the judgment has been given to serve as a lesson to other people.
