Police in Chiradzulu have arrested a barman and his two accomplices on suspicion that they assaulted Geofrey Mnenula (a customer) before half burying him at a nearby farm.

It is reported that the suspects, identified as Gift Gray Gwape, Mwai Upinda and Fransisco Isaac (a barman) had just robbed the victim of his K52,000 cash at a bottle-store.

Chiladzulu Police spokesperson Lovice Mulinde says the incident happened at Chimwawa Trading Center.

“On the said night, Francisco who is the owner of the shabin and his two friends, asked the victim to buy them beer, but he refused saying he did not have money.

“This prompted the suspects to attack and rob him of K52,000.00. They later half buried him in a nearby farm thinking they had killed him,” Mulinde said.

Mnenula was discovered by some villagers in the early hours of the following day.

They later reported matter to police who quickly initiated investigations that led to the arrest of the suspects.

The victim sustained multiple wounds in the head and was taken to Chiradzulu District Hospital where he is still receiving treatment.
