A picture of a newly constructed upstairs hostel at Chikanda Township in Zomba is now buzzing online after being described as a death trap.
The house which is located near the graveyard in the township, is underway as it has now reached to roofing stage.
However, social media lover have blamed the contractor and city council for failing to inspect the projects as it has not designed as upstairs and not worthy to called so.
The photo of the infrastructure has triggered many comments from Twitter users some of them are as follows:
“This always has me questioning who controls the quality of these buildings like the upstairs has a foundation of one floor building”.
“We got jokes. Dubious Cantilever beams. Then as if that was not bad enough. They made an extension going beyond the beam”
“They are just making a grave man, something that wasn’t designed to be upstairs in the first place, it’s dangerous, as long as demolished it all down and start building the foundation of the upstairs again”.
