President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has opted to travel by road to Mzuzu for the first time since the death of his Vice Dr. Saulos Chilima in a plane crash in Chikangawa forest in Mzimba last month.
Usually, Chakwera uses the plane when traveling to the Northern region.
Currently, President Chakwera is at Mtengo Wathenga, Traditional Authority (T/A) Mponela, where he is warmly greeting the local communities.
Upon arrival, the President was welcomed by Deputy Minister of Health Halima Daudi, Malawi Congress Party Central Region Chairman Patrick Zebron Chilondola, local leaders, and enthusiastic residents who turned out in large numbers.
Chakwera is traveling to Mzuzu where he is scheduled to carryout a number of official duties and one of it being attending the Umthetho cultural festival set for this coming Saturday at Hora Mountain.
