The Isoka Immigration Department has apprehended a 45-year-old Tanzanian Truck Driver for allegedly smuggling three Ethiopians and three Somalis in the country.
Zambia Immigration Public Relations Officer Namati Nshika has confirmed the arrest and identified the driver as Godfrey Mwambogela.
According to Nshinka, Officers from the Isoka Immigration Office intercepted the Truck at the Mwaiseni Checkpoint during a routine examination of traffic.
The undocumented immigrants aged between 16 and 32 were found hidden in a modified compartment near the Truck’s Chassis.
The Truck belonging to Asood Petroleum Company Limited is believed to have been heading to Lusaka from Tanzania.
All suspects are detained pending investigations while the truck has been impounded.
