Police at Chileka in Blantyre have arrested a 22- year-old man for allegedly being found in possession of chamba (cannabis sativa) without permit.
Chileka police publicist, Sergeant Jonathan Phillipo has identified the suspect as James Adam, who was arrested on Wednesday at Lunzu Police roadblock.
The publicist says the arrest followed a tip-off from well wishers that the suspect was seen carrying 3 bags on a motorcycle suspected to have contained cannabis sativa.
Police say, immediately after receiving the tip, Lunzu police detectives followed up the suspect leading to his arrest and seizure of over 190 kilograms of Chamba.
The drug will soon be sent to Bvumbwe research station for examination.
James Adam hails from Chimkwita village, Traditional Authority Sawali in Balaka district; and is expected to appear before court soon.
