Police in Limbe are keeping in custody three people for possessing cannabis sativa without permit.
According to Sergeant Aubrey Singanyama the suspects who were arrested at Nthandizi location in Bangwe Township are identified as Monica Kamanga,40, Santo Almando,22, and Green Nyamithambo,48.
Singanyama says the arrest was made after Limbe Police detectives who were conducting routine patrols in the area, received a tip from well wishers that, the three were in possession of the illicit drug without permission.
“After making a follow up of the tip, the detectives managed to seize two bags weighing 100 Kilograms each and 10 bricks of the said Cannabis Sativa.
‘Meanwhile, the seized Cannabis Sativa is pending to be sent to Bvumbwe Research station for examination and the suspects will appear before court soon’.said Singanyama.
Monica Kamanga hails from Kaeza village in the area of Traditional Authority Khosolo in Mzimba district whilst Santo Almando and Green Nyamithambo are from Ndaga and Ndaguma villages both under Traditional Authority Malemia in Nsanje District.
