The United Transformation Movement (UTM) will on Sunday hold a memorial rally in honor of the departed party leader Dr. Saulos Chilima at Masintha Ground in the capital Lilongwe.

This will be the second rally after a rally in Mzuzu in the party weekend which was graced by the new catch from the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in the name of Dalitso Kabambe.

UTM spokesperson Felix Njawala said the party will hold the memorial rallies across the country.

Chilima and eight others including former first lady Patricia Shanil Zimbiri died in a plane crash in Chikangawa Forest on June 10, 2024.

The crash has attracted mixed reactions among Malawians with UTM supporters suspecting foul play on the accident, forcing it to pull out of the Tonse Alliance.

Meanwhile, President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has instituted an inquiry on the accident.
