Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has resigned and fled the country following anti-government protests in which hundreds of people have reported been killed.
Reports indicate that she and her sister have been taken to safety by army helicopter.
While her exact whereabouts are unclear, international media reports that she is thought to be heading to India.
