The Zambia Police Service has categorically denied reports circulating on social media that two people were killed in the Dengwe area of Kasempa District in North-Western Province during a recent operation conducted by officers.

Police Public Relations Officer Rae Hamoonga clarified the situation in an interview with media.

According to Hamoonga, the operation aimed to remove illegal miners from the area and was executed successfully.

He said contrary to the claims, no police officers discharged live ammunition at individuals present during the operation.

Hamoonga said all illegal miners were effectively removed from the site without any incidents of violence or serious injury.

He emphasized the police service’s unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order while ensuring the safety of all citizens.

Hamoonga urged the public and media to verify information through official sources, such as the police, to prevent unnecessary panic and confusion.
