The Mulanje magistrate court today continues hearing the case of a 13-year-old boy who lost his hands after alleged torture by police officers.
The case in which police officers at Misanjo police Unit are accused of harming the little after being suspected of stealing from a certain rich man named Mabvuto Chimwaza.
It is reported that the boy, was arrested by Police Officers Charles Mbewe and Stanley Chigaru by tying both his both hands with a rubber belt that led to injury of the kid’s hands and they are both answering charges.
Not too long ago, court was also hearing the same case before the defense asked for adjournment to today.
The charge sheet now includes a third accused, the person the boy allegedly stole from.
However, state lawyers, together with lawyers from Centre for Human Rights Education, Advice and Assistance (CHREAA) and SALC lawyers, are set to advance their case, with 8 witnesses set to testify.
The accused who have been denied the charges, will answer charges of neglect of official duty causing grievous harm and common assault.
