Information reaching our desk from the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) convention at Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC) indicates that Catherine Gotani Hara has won the position of First Vice-President of the MCP. Hara received 438 votes, while Vitumbiko Mumba received 313 votes.
In addition, Minister of Local Government Richard Chimwendo Banda has secured the Secretary General position, defeating the incumbent Eisenhower Mkaka.
All results are subject to confirmation by the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC), which is overseeing the elections.
Meanwhile, President Lazarus Chakwera, who spent the entire night at BICC, has returned from home.
