Chairperson for the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) elective conference, Dr. George Chaponda, has announced that over 2,600 delegates from across the country were expected to convene at COMESA Hall in Blantyre for the party’s elective conference.
Chaponda make the remarks this afternoon during DPP’s press briefing in Blantyre.
Chaponda stated that all positions were up for grabs, reflecting the party’s commitment to ensuring that all roles were evenly shared.
However, Peter Mutharika, the party’s president, went unopposed as he was the only candidate to have collected presidential nomination papers.
Chaponda emphasized that, unlike other parties where positions were often concentrated within a single region or tribe, the DPP aimed to set itself apart.
“Unlike other parties, whose positions are shared among people from one region or one tribe, our party shall prove to be different,” said Chaponda
