A former United Democratic Front (UDF) party governor, Alhaji Nkata, has now joined the Democratic Progressive party (DPP).
Nkata resigned from his position in the UDF and left the party last month. Speaking at a reception for new members of the party, Nkata stated that he wants to help the DPP take over the government.
He said he left the UDF voluntarily and that he did not have any disputes with the leaders of the UDF party.
Nkata mentioned that he had received offers to join other parties but declined them, as he wanted to join the DPP.
This is welcome news for the DPP, which is looking to strengthen its party as we head into the general elections next year.
