Former President Peter Mutharika will go unopposed at the forthcoming Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) elective conference slated for 17-18 August 2024 at Comesa Hall in the commercial capital Blantyre.
Chairperson of the Convention who is also leader of the opposition in Parliament Dr. George Chaponda has confirmed of the development during media briefing in Blantyre.
According to Chaponda, only the former President has collected and submitted nomination forms for the post of Presidency at the convention.
Chaponda went further to say that the Central Committee of the party has since endorsed Mutharika.
Over 2000 people are expected to attend the elective conference.
